I have been in the business of trying to lose weight for several weeks now. I started researching into some good fat loss foods and ingredients. Then, I thought, some of them sound good to put into a smoothie!
- 1 cup Frozen Organic fruit of your choice (for this recipe I used papaya, mango and pineapple)
- 1 cup Almond Milk
- 1 Tablespoon Flaxseed Meal
- 1 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1 scoop Whey Protein
- Put all ingredients in blender or food processor until smooth.
- Enjoy!
1. Whey Protein- Your body needs protein to repair and build muscle. Your body makes some protein on its own with the 12 amino acids it can produce. The other nine we get from dietary protein. Whey protein is an amazing source because we absorb it faster than say from a steak or meat source. Plus whey protein is usually low-fat or fat free and steak is not.
2. Coconut Oil- This oil has a LOT of health benefits. It helps improve cholesterol. It is beneficial for proper thyroid function. One study showed that eating 2 Tablespoons of coconut oil daily for 12 weeks actually lowered the amount of abdominal fat which is hard to lose.
3. Cinnamon- This spice has many benefits. It can lower blood sugar in diabetics. Some studies even show that it can lower cholesterol and prevent or treat yeast infections. It may also reduce inflammation, fight bacteria, and have antioxidant effects. (there are many more benefits:

4. Almond milk (unsweetened)- There are only 30 calories in unsweetened almond milk. It has lots of calcium too which is good for strong bones. It is a wonderful replacement for regular dairy which can be full of antibiotics and sugar (which is no help to the midsection)
5. Frozen Organic Fruit- Papaya, mango, and pineapple: These are the fruits in this smoothie recipe. Fruit is naturally sweet so you will not need to add sugar or honey to this. Plus, they are super low in calories. You will want to purchase organic frozen fruit to ensure there are no chemicals. Also make sure it is non-gmo if your store carries it.
6. Flaxseed Meal- I cannot even number the health benefits that come from this ingredient. It is high in fiber and rich in omega-3 fatty acids as well as phytochemicals called lignans. One tablespoon of ground flaxseed contains 2 grams of polyunsaturated fatty acids (includes the omega 3s) and 2 grams of dietary fiber and 37 calories.
As you can see, this smoothie has it all. Now, I cannot promise you that it will aid in weight loss if you are still eating a diet full of preservatives, hormones, and extra calories. However, if you are dieting and trying to “eat clean”, this will definitely help.
